On the basis of
experience gained during the 30-year period of MiG-21 aircraft
exploitation, repair and maintenance in Yugoslavia, Aeronautical Plant
“Moma Stanojlović’’ has developed procedures for gradual extension of time
limitations for this type of aircraft.
Time limitation applies
to structure as well as to aircraft accessories and equipment. Works on
extension of time limitation are carried out at customer’s facilities
EXTENSION OF TBO
AND SERVICE LIFE
A) Works
1. Analysis of customer’s technical qualification
2. Evaluation of customer’s aircraft technical
condition
3. Implementation of works covers:
- Disassembly of accessories equipment
- Troubleshooting of aircraft structure and
carrying surfaces
- Troubleshooting and repair of accessories and
equipment depending on their
technical condition and service life covered
- Works on structural repair and revitalization
of carrying surfaces
- Implementation of
bulletins
- Accessories and
equipment assembly
- Aircraft ground testing
and flight tests.
Based on the works performed:

MiG-21 aircraft is prescribed a new service life of 5 years or 500
flying
hours.

MiG-21 aircraft is prescribed calendar life of 40 years.
B) Purpose

Prolongation of aircraft service life according to purpose

Extension of TBO and service life until reaching values analogue to
the
ones determined
at overhaul.

OVERHAUL
Overhaul comprises three main groups of works, each
representing a complete whole.
I – Preparatory works (aircraft acceptance,
preliminary troubleshooting, disassembly works)
II – Repair works on aircraft and components
(structural repair, equipment repair)
III – Final works (assembly works, final check,
painting and flight tests).
Upon completed works, aircraft, accessories and
equipment are given new TBOs.
